Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is an American actor and producer who is well-known for her high-quality performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her movie Piano earned her an Oscar. The successful actress began her career in acting on the stage through a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Acting has always been her passion. When she was in fifth grade, she portrayed Helen Keller in an original production. The mumps caused her to lose hearing in one of her ears, but this did not stop her from following her dreams. As a young woman she took classes in drama at college and moved to New York City from Pittsburgh to achieve her goals. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and they worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. The role she was offered came as an actress supporting the main character in Swing Shift. She has since appeared in a variety of shows and TV films over a career spanning over three decades. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
