Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized by her highly commendable performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano earned her numerous awards including an Oscar. At a young age her acclaimed actress started performing on stage in several Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. From her early years she's always been enthusiastic about acting. She played Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. The fifth grade was the year that due to mumps, she lost her hearing in the left ear. However, she did not let it stop her from performing. When she was a teenager she studied drama, before moving in New York City. Hunter had her Broadway debut following an accidental encounter with Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. Hunter relocated to Los Angeles and tried to get movie roles. For Swing Shift, she landed a role as a support. She has since appeared in numerous films, TV series and movies over the course of her 30-year career. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity as well as a winner of the Women in Film Lucy Award.
